Job Description

Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

The IT Officer oversees IMC Afghanistan Information Technology Unit matters up to the field sites. The incumbent is required to have a strong knowledge of LAN/WAN network concepts, the planning, implementation and management of network infrastructures. The IT Officer will coordinate the planning, installation and implementation of new or modified LAN/WAN related hardware, software, applications and/or operating systems whenever is required. The IT Officer is responsible for providing technical support of network infrastructure, computers, servers and payroll software.​ The IT Officer will support computer and server operating systems, hardware, and software and support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent LAN/WAN project management and support experience.
Extensive knowledge of a LAN/​WAN environment, network protocols and configurations.
Develop and utilize methods, techniques, diagnostic tools or criteria to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex LAN/WAN related hardware, software, operating systems and network problems.

Monitor and support network infrastructure and ensure efficient network operations by evaluating and troubleshooting hardware, software, and other network related problems.
Monitor and support software/hardware installation includes operating system installation in computers, photocopy machines, printers, multimedia projectors, Microsoft outlook configurations, antivirus installations.
Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting of computer & server hardware issues and network connections.
Performance of maintenance and minor repairs on hardware equipment.
Support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing
Support to efficient and effective ICT management and support
Understand quality, security and compliance requirements for supported areas and assess changes for risk to the organization environment.
Support field sites and other departments when required.
Check computers internet connectivity, antivirus updates on Daily, Monthly and Yearly basis.
Creation and Termination of IMC official email accounts.
Configuration of IMC official email accounts with Micros Soft exchange.
Troubleshooting of any IT issue (eg. Outlook, Webmail, Software Installation, Activation, Antivirus etc.(In IMC sub offices with online Team Viewer software).
Any other assigned job by LM.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage IT Officer/ Assistants at field site offices appropriately.

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical training and support to IT assistant, management, and other staff.
Maintain and monitor internet equipment in the office to ensure connectivity, set up and upgrade of all IT equipment.
Conduct regular back up of files, servers, and Microsoft exchange email servers.
Install and upgrade software packages.
Conduct and assess regular market and source out, recognize potential, reliable and cost effective new vendors for any future consideration
Ensure the Internet Security software is update on all servers and workstations.
Undertake all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Country Management.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
3 years’ experience with LAN and WAN architectures and technologies.
At least 2-3 years related experience and/or training with a NGO organization.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Excellent communication skills (oral & written) in Dari / Pashto / English.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.
Ability to effectively present information to management.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer)
CCNA
CCNP
MS Office
Hardware A+
MCP
IT Security
Mikrotik configuration knowledge etc.

OTHER SKILLS:

Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental understanding of project management methodology.
Results oriented and self motivated with the ability to take ownership of IT projects and deliver them on time and within budget.
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while dealing with frequent interruptions and working in a high-pressure environment.
Maintain strong attention to detail.
Able to work over time on weekends or holidays required by the supervisor or program or any other tasks which need to be completed.
Must be honest, well mannered, polite, and co-operative with colleagues, hospital staff, and vendors/suppliers.
